I have been a part of CBC since 1986, having been involved with the children's ministry for years designing and illustrating curriculum with Deena Stirling and leading "Children's Church", with my wife Theresa, as "Pastor Pete" (Yes, I was the first one). Having participated in scores of skits, productions and videos over the years I have retired to my farm in the woods, but still tinker a bit in the visual arts at CBC and abroad. I love being a part of a community that loves Jesus and enjoys sharing that love with others.
About Theresa
I arrived in California from grad school to start my life with my first job. I was attending a church in Laguna Beach where the average age was 75, and the minister was very kind. When I started dating Tom, I brought him to my church. After a lovely service and singing "Morning has Broken" for our contemporary hymn, Tom said to me," I think you can grow a little faster. Want to come with me to Capo Beach Church? That was in 1988, and yep, I've been growing quickly ever since that first Sunday!
I have been involved with ministry leadership positions related to Children's Sunday School, renovation of the church kitchen, exterior landscape improvements, women's retreats/night of worship, and homeless sock-lunches. Currently, I continue to be involved with women's ministry and hope to soon offer cooking classes to promote and encourage stress-free family meals. My ideas for this class come from my experiences as a business owner, and 18 years of cooking for a family of four. I am also interested to launch a community service resource for local high school students to use to accumulate service time for their college application requirements. This may be a way for kids who do not go to church to understand who Jesus is by spreading love and help to their communities as Jesus taught us to do.
