Elaine Grimes
Espresso Café Managerelaineg@capochurch.comHow I got here
I’ve been with CBC since April 1994, and have been involved in a variety of ministries through the years. When I was invited to work for the new coffee bar in November 2010, I was drawn to the idea of serving the Lord through serving coffee drinks! It seemed like a perfect fit for me, drawing upon my food and customer service backgrounds, while allowing me to be an active part of my church.
What I do here
I manage the Espresso Cafe for Pastor Harry Robinson. I enjoy the details of keeping the Cafe running, such as managing inventory, ordering supplies, working with our bakers to stock our pastry case, staffing the shifts, training volunteers, handling the register, etc. The best part of working the Cafe is greeting and serving the customers. Getting to know our regulars and what’s going on in their lives, thus having the opportunity to pray for them, and sometimes with them in the Cafe, is a privilege I cherish. Working with our cafe volunteers and employees is the other best part of working the Cafe.
Bit of Cafe trivia: All items in our pastry case (except bagels) are made from scratch by our bakers, each of whom is a part of CBC’s family!
Why I do what I do
I love Jesus, I love people and I love my church! The Lord called me to this ministry, where I can serve coffee, and work alongside people of my church, as a way of praising Jesus. I love connecting with people and being part of a caring team that enjoys what they’re doing: serving coffee to serve the Lord! “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord …” Colossians 3:23.
