Wednesday - Psalm 103:4
“Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.” Psalms 103:4
We have been redeemed from the pit of sin. Have you been redeemed from a pit? Can you remember what your life was like before Jesus and the hope of His rescue from the pit you were in? I believe the pit is different for each of us. We are trapped by sin and the sin trap is somehow different for each of us. Sin is a trap and surrounds us with the hopeless sense we will never get out. Jesus came and delivered us from the pit.
The sign of being set free is both love and compassion. Love comes easier when we have been forgiven much. The person who has been forgiven much, loves much.
Luke 7:47 tells us the story of the woman with the alabaster box who poured the richest perfume on Jesus. She was showing her love and gratefulness by this generous gift. Jesus then said, “Those who have been forgive much love greater than those who have been forgiven little.”
One of the many things I love about Capo Beach Church is our open arms to show love and compassion. We all have been forgiven much and are ready to show much love; compassion for the hurting, compassion for the lost and the broken. Compassion and love for the one who sins differently than we do. We all have been redeemed from the pit. The crown of this deliverance is love and compassion.
I pray our church will be rich in love and ready to show the forgiveness so freely given to us. This is the heart of the Gospel of Jesus and the heart for which HE died.
When we are rescued from sin, we are HOME.
What is the pit of sin? What does this pit look like to you?
The fruit of deliverance is love and compassion. How can we realistically show this to others? How do you show love and compassion?
Jesus clearly teaches us the importance of obedience. John 10:27 “My Sheep hear my voice and they follow me”, in John 14:15 Jesus says “You show me you love me when you keep my commandments.” How do we offer love and compassion and still hold ourselves accountable to being obedient? Describe the balance of grace and truth.
