Saturday - Psalm 103:11-12
“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:11-12
This is Celebration Saturday, the best day of the week! We get to know the God of all creation has taken our sin and has cast it as far away from us, as far away from Him as it can possibly go. He has taken our sin where it will never be seen again. He remembers our sin no more. Hebrews 8:12 says “I have forgiven their sin and will remember it no more.” Think of that. Jesus has sacrificed Himself and He no longer remembers our sin. So then, why do we remember our sin?
David was quite a sinner. I don’t believe anyone reading this has committed the sins David did. He slept with another man’s wife, killed her husband and lied about it. David’s sin was great, and yet, David’s connection to God, and the understanding of God’s forgiveness, was even greater. David revealed to us the nature of God and the amazing gift of forgiveness.
We can receive this gift entirely, but only on our knees. When we try and live life on our own and try to get rid of guilt by our human effort, we fail time and time again. How many of us have tried to eliminate our guilt from sin by performing some duty or service, only to find the guilt has never left? The message from David here is so clear. We can know total forgiveness when we start on our knees. Asking God to remove our guilt and shame, not by what we do, only by what He has done.
Why Celebration Saturday? Because He has already done it, we can fall on our knees, ask His forgiveness, forgive ourselves and move into his joy and peace. He has done it all.
When we are free, we are HOME.
What have you been holding on to?
God’s forgiven you, so what could you need to forgive yourself for?
Remember, it all starts on our knees. It’s all about Him and not about us…
