How I got here 

I began working at CBC in November 2012. Before that I had volunteered as a leader at Straight Up for about four years. Being Middle School Pastor's Assistant is what I had been wanting and praying about for quite a long time. The opportunity arose when the new pastor, Chris Boice, came on board.  He suggested that I apply for the position, so I immediately went through the application process, resigned from my previous job, and was hired into the family of CBC. 

What I do here

My number one responsibility is to love on the students. I show and teach them the love of Christ by leading and mentoring them.  I also do many other things, such as create our monthly newsletter, 'Straight Up Monthly Scoop', that we send out to each household, and oversee our extremely talented, student-led worship team, by helping them prepare songs and lead their peers. I also work with Chris on our bi-weekly services for the students, planning trips, and whatever else God throws my way for this amazing ministry!

Why I do what I do

I began volunteering at Straight Up in my junior year of high school because of the strong pull on my heart from God. When I was in middle school, I started heading down the wrong path, making poor decisions which led to many negative affects in my life. I believe God puts you through things to better yourself, which is what happened my sophomore year of high school on a Red Door trip. I use what I went through to show these wonderful students that even though middle school can be a hard time, with God all things are possible!
